ICU Registered Nurse Job in Bowling Green, KY

You will work as a Registered Nurse in a specialized Neuro ICU unit with the ability to float to step-down. Your primary responsibility is to provide direct patient care with a 1:3 patient ratio on days, nights, and weekends in a 6-bed unit maintaining a daily census of 6 patients.

Patient Population & Clinical Focus

• Care for adult patients with diagnoses including stroke, head bleed, craniotomy, brain tumor resection, cervical surgery, sepsis, respiratory failure, and seizures
• Demonstrate competency in stroke signs/symptoms assessment (BE-FAST), bedside dysphagia screening, and IV-tPA administration and post-tPA monitoring
• Maintain familiarity with current stroke guidelines and performance measures for Acute Ischemic and Hemorrhagic strokes

Clinical Skills Required

• Arterial line management, ventilator management, CVA/acute stroke management, and ICP monitoring
• External ventricular drain (EVD) and central line care/management
• Continuous IV sedation and paralytics, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• CRRT experience highly preferred

Requirements & Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; minimum 1 year of experience in a certified stroke center critical care unit preferred
• At least 9 months of travel healthcare experience required
• Valid Kentucky RN license or Compact RN license
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA only) certifications required; NIHSS certificate must be current and obtained within 2 years of start date
• Meditech charting experience preferred but not required

• Self-scheduling with weekend coverage required
• 65-mile radius restriction applies
• Requested time off (RTO) must be included with submission

Compensation
Weekly pay: $2,151.36
