PACU Registered Nurse Job in Shreveport, LA

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, an academic medical center, is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). You will work evening shifts from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM on a 5x8 schedule, providing direct patient care during critical recovery periods.

Role Responsibilities:

• Manage a patient ratio of 1:2, with potential to accommodate up to 1:4 during overflow conditions while waiting for room assignments
• Deliver Phase I and Phase II PACU recovery care
• Perform airway assessment, extubation support, and conscious sedation management
• Monitor cardiac function and recognize dysrhythmias
• Manage arterial lines and pain assessment protocols
• Administer blood products and provide care for ventilated patients
• Care for diverse patient populations: adolescents, infants, adults, pediatric, and geriatric patients
• Use Epic charting system for documentation

Schedule and On-Call:

You will be on-call every third weekend, typically on a volunteer basis, with call hours of either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Holidays are part of the on-call schedule. This is a 56-week assignment beginning July 20, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,272.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience
• Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA required)
• Compact or Louisiana nursing license
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Royal blue scrubs required
