RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts, either days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) or nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Preferred shift schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday - Days 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend or 2 weekends per 4-week schedule required
• Holiday work will be integrated into permanent staff holiday schedule as needed
• Float to like units (floor/stepdown) is required
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Unit is a 30-bed Trauma and General Surgery inpatient unit (12 floor beds, 18 stepdown beds)
• Patient ratios: 1:6 for floor patients (med-surg) and 1:3 for stepdown patients
• Scrub color: Royal Blue
• Must have Epic experience - required
• Must have Level 1 Trauma experience - required
• Must have 1:6 ratio experience - required
• Must have experience with complex wound care, drains, devices, and traumatic injuries
• Must have experience with chest tubes, respiratory support, TBIs, and complex spinal cord injuries
• Must be able to read and validate cardiac monitor strips
• Common diagnoses include multi-trauma, TBI, fractures, general surgery (cholecystectomies, ostomies), and bariatric surgery
• Common drips: floor - Heparin, PCAs; stepdown - Insulin, Cardizem (non-pressors)
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 with stable/chronic vents on unit
• Monitor techs available to read and run monitoring; RN must be able to validate strips
• Free charge nurse budgeted 24/7 with house supervisor available
• Clinical Associates (nurse aides) available with 4 when fully staffed
• Charting system: Epic
• Required certifications: BLS
