PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 30, 2026.

Position Details

• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 3 shifts per week with 36 guaranteed hours
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday rotation required

About the Unit

You will work in a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit with high patient turnover and a typical 1:4 patient ratio. The patient population includes post-operative CABG and valve patients, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacemaker, defibrillator, ablations, acute chest pain, MI, and medical/surgical overflow including detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure, and fem-pop bypass.

Responsibilities

• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Manage patient care independently and efficiently
• Administer cardiac medications including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips
• Chart in EPIC
• Pass an EKG competency test during the first week

Please note that low census may occur in 4-hour increments; the unit may ask you to work only 4 or 8 hours of a scheduled shift.

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 1 year of strong cardiac experience (Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU)
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/PCU/Telemetry experience
• Minimum 1 year of recent EPIC charting experience
• At least one prior travel nursing assignment
• Associate Degree or Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,640.
