Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Night shift position from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Contract length between 8 to 26 weeks
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to other units is expected at times - confirmation of this requirement must be acknowledged before final signature
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates within 50 miles of facility are not accepted
• Required certification: BLS
• Charting system: Meditech (experience preferred)
• Patient ratio of 6:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Patients served include adolescents (aged 12 and above), adults, and geriatrics
• Fast-paced inpatient surgical unit requiring previous surgical experience
• Patient diagnoses include general surgery, abdominal surgery, urological surgery, orthopedic surgery, hysterectomy, mastectomy, spine surgery, and bariatric surgery
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed but shifts will be grouped together when possible
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• RTO policy: If one holiday falls in the assignment, expect to work it; if two holidays, expect to work one; if three, expect to work two
• Required skills include blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, heparin, insulin, isolation precautions/PPE, PCA, PICC line management, phlebotomy, telemetry remote monitoring, total joint replacement, wound care/wound vac, and starting and maintaining IVs
