ED - Emergency Room

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of emergency room experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Travel experience required; manager prefers travelers with at least 3 ER contracts completed; candidates with 1-2 completed travel assignments may be screened
• Epic charting system experience required (hard stop - redirected if no Epic experience)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS; SANE and TNCC preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Patient population: Neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
• Patient ratio of 1:4; 74-bed emergency department averaging 165-175 patients per day
• Large, busy, high-acuity general emergency department (non-trauma); Stroke and STEMI certified facility
• Unit system: Epic (required), Pyxis
• Scrub color: Navy blue
• Every other weekend required
• Floating is rare but may occur within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• RTO blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th - 12th)
• Holiday expectations: If 1-2 major holidays fall within assignment period, traveler is expected to work both; if 3 major holidays fall within assignment period, traveler is expected to work 2 of the 3
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Skills include: Triage, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, IV vasopressors, central line care and management, chest tube management, care of ventilated patients, procedural sedation, intubation, BiPAP/CPAP management, 12-lead EKG/ECG, phlebotomy, arterial line management, ICP monitoring, STEMI and stroke certified facility protocols, psychiatric holds, and managing violent behavior
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and pharmacy
• Community hospital experience preferred; Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• 24 orientation hours required
