Respiratory Therapist - Registered Respiratory Therapist

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• Full-time position
• Potential to be scheduled on weekends
• No on-call requirements
• Float between two facilities in Lake Charles
• Therapist-to-patient ratio of approximately 5:1 (5 ventilators per therapist)
• Provide pulmonary care for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under physician direction with minimal supervision
• Work independently in Level 3 NICU with knowledge of ventilators, oscillations, nitric oxide therapy, and arterial line draws
• Attend all C-sections
• Support adult ICU patients including cardiac surgery patients
• Work in facilities with full standing emergency rooms
• Perform emergency response (Code Blue and White), airway management including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning, and delivery of aerosolized drugs
• Manage ventilator setup and operation, BiPAP and CPAP devices, and oxygen delivery devices
• Perform blood gas collection and analysis, EKG analysis, and chest film analysis
• May perform advanced practice skills including therapeutic gas management, INO and HeO2 monitoring, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assist, hemodynamic monitoring, and waveform analysis
• May function as Shift Leader or Team Leader
• EMR system: EPIC
• Intubation skills are a plus
• 1-3 years of experience preferred
• Required licenses and certifications: RT or RCP License in state of employment, BLS (AHA), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC, ACLS (AHA), and PALS (AHA)
