PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, providing care in an 8-bed observation unit with a 1:4 patient ratio. This is a 13-week assignment beginning November 2, 2026.

Schedule and Pay

• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• 3 shifts per week for 36 guaranteed hours
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• $2,640 weekly pay
• 36 hours of low census unbillable time available, used in increments as needed

Your Role

You'll manage patients with conditions including anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, and pre- and post-operative urology and GI cases. You'll administer drips such as Cardizem, nitro, insulin, and heparin. The unit experiences high admission and discharge volume, with average patient stays of up to 48 hours. You may float to other inpatient units, including the Cardiac Telemetry Unit, as needed.

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
• ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• NIHSS certification highly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips; EKG exam required during compliance
• EPIC charting experience
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• Associate Degree or Certificate in nursing
• Background in observation units or Med-Surg/Telemetry units preferred
