Opportunity:

RN - IMC

Job Details:

• 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• 36 or 48-hour work weeks available
• Contract length accepted: 13 to 26 weeks
• No on-call requirement
• Minimum of 3 weekend shifts required every six weeks
• Float requirement to other intermediate areas including 6A, 5A PCTU, 5C Cardiac Intermediate, and critical care (ICU/Stepdown patients)
• Patient ratio of 1:4 on weekends (1:3-4); unit maximum of 24 patients
• Scheduling based on unit needs
• 32 hours of unit orientation: 8-hour computer class plus two shifts on the unit following initial hospital orientation
• Scrubs not provided; must wear any combination of navy blue and white
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; neuro experience strongly preferred
• First-time travelers will not be accepted
• Travel experience required
• Must be able to titrate LEVO
• EPIC experience required; systems used include Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: CCRN, TNCC, CPI
• Required work setting skills: Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and Telemetry
• Required cardiac monitoring skills: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry unit monitoring, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Required cardiovascular skills: TR Band
• Required endocrine/metabolic skills: IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Required gastrointestinal skills: Feeding tube care and management
• Required genitourinary/renal skills: Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Required IV therapy/phlebotomy skills: Blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting and maintaining IVs
• Required medication skills: Heparin protocols, PCA, thrombolytic agents, titrate cardiac drips, and titrate vasoactive drips
• Required neurological skills: Aneurysms and repair, craniotomy, CVA, intracranial bleeds, lumbar drains, post TPA care, pre/post neurosurgery, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury
• Required plastics skills: Surgical drains
• Required respiratory skills: BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, oxygen tanks, and tracheostomy care/management
• Required professional skills: Isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Preferred skills: Accessing/managing ports, phlebotomy, triage, ICP, and conscious sedation
• Patient population: Intermediate neurological and medical intermediate patients including adults and geriatrics
• Patient diagnoses include neurological conditions and medical intermediate conditions
