RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 16-week contract with options to sign for 36 or 48 guaranteed hours per week
• Position is on the 6900 GI/GU unit
• Patient ratios of 1:4-6
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Will float within service line to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling is not available
• Minimum 2 years of med/surg experience required
• Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• No local candidates accepted within 75-mile radius
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Scrub color: Navy
• Required skills include: Blood Product Administration, Central Line Blood Draw, Colostomy/Ileostomy Management and Care, Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI), Feeding Tube Care and Management, Heparin, Insulin, Interpretation and Management of Dysrhythmias, Med/Surg, PCA, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Phlebotomy, PICC Line Management, Starting and Maintaining IVs, Telemetry Remote Monitoring
• Administer drips including Heparin, Lidocaine (pain only), Bicarb, Bivalirudin, and Amiodarone (stable, non-titrated)
• Manage PCAs, Epidurals, and CBIs with various irrigation solutions
• Basic knowledge of centralized telemetry preferred
• Perform special procedures including Foleys, CBI/Continuous Bladder Irrigation, TURPs, and colorectal patient protocols
• Care for patients with diagnoses including ostomy, colon resection, colon cancer, bladder cancer, GU conditions, and medical overflow on a high-turnover surgery unit
• Treats adult patient population
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and more
