ICU - Intensive Care Unit

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• First to float when needed; may float to PCU, CICU, telemetry, or med-surge units
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1-2, with 90% of shifts being a 1:2 ratio
• 30-bed ICU/Trauma ICU unit
• Must have 2-3 years of experience in specialty; previous travel experience preferred
• Must have experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies, or experience with post-TPA patients
• Must have trauma experience
• Must be comfortable titrating drips including vasopressors and sedation
• Must be able to interpret telemetry strips independently; unit secretary will run strips
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS; PALS preferred (required if assignment extends beyond 6 months)
• NIHSS certification required
• Must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Test on-site on day one (pass/fail)
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color: Navy
• Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7; charge nurse does not take a patient assignment
• Intensivist available 24/7
• Respiratory therapy assigned to ICU 24/7; Hamilton ventilators used
• Unit orientation: 1 day on unit with additional time provided if needed
• Fast-paced unit requiring ability to work hard, ask questions, and collaborate well with others
• Hospital has a robust interventional radiology program and is traveler friendly
• Trauma Level 2 facility
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
