About this role

University of Virginia Medical Center is seeking a Special Procedures Technologist for a 13-week contract assignment in Interventional Radiology and Cardiology. This role supports a high-acuity tertiary care environment with 8 procedure rooms and 2 OR suites.

Schedule & Location

  • 4x10-hour shifts (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM) or 5x8-hour shifts (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM); options discussed at interview
  • One weekday call shift per week
  • One weekend call shift every 2 months
  • On-call parking spot provided
  • Float to OR suites as required
  • Charlottesville, VA; 50-mile radius rule applies (local candidates not accepted)

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Trauma Level I experience required
  • ARRT R, BLS, and ARRT Advanced Certification
  • Virginia license required (pending license accepted if in hand by Wednesday before start date)
  • Epic charting system experience

Required Skills & Procedures

  • Angioplasty, cardiac stent placement, carotid stenting, embolization, ERCP, IVC filter placement, interventional radiology, liver biopsy, nephrostomy, PACS, percutaneous stone extraction, PTCA, renal artery stent placement, thoracentesis, upper and lower extremity angiography, ureteral stent placement, catheter/drain exchange, chest tube placement, internal/external biliary drainage
  • Dialysis fistulas, contrast procedures, biopsies, ablations, peripherals
  • Biliary, nephrostomy, and cystostomy tube insertions and maintenance; central venous access and ports; TIPS and BRTOs; vascular interventions; venous thrombolysis; stent grafts; PCNL; TACE; Level 1 trauma cases

Preferred Experience

  • Philips ultrasound, infants and pediatric cases, ICU, kyphoplasty, hemodynamic monitoring, aortic interventions, oncology procedures

Patient Population

You will work with adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in a tertiary care setting.

Compensation & Time Off

Weekly pay: $3,137. Maximum 40 hours of pre-approved time off per 13-week contract. References required.
