PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 3x12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• Floating required within skillset
• Epic charting experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Active Virginia state or compact RN license required
• Perform cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and activation of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Provide IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Administer and manage cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, and Lasix (no titration)
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen delivery, and non-invasive airway management
• Care for adult and geriatric patients in a high-turnover PCU environment
• Primary focus includes chest pain management, expediting ER flow, and ruling in/out MI
• Manage overflow from cardiology and medicine PCU, with occasional post-cath patients
• Patient ratio is 1:5 (goal ratio of 4:1)
• Remote telemetry with monitors on unit; tele sitting implemented
• First-time travelers accepted
