PCU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, caring for adult patients with neurological conditions, neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, and medical overflow. This is a 91-day travel position with 3x12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM.

Shift and Schedule

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Blocked scheduling available upon request; submit all requests with application

Clinical Responsibilities

• Patient ratio of 1:4–5; must be comfortable with 1:5 ratio
• Provide care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
• Participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
• Administer IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Manage central and peripheral line care
• Administer medications and manage cardiac drips (non-titration)
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Maintain isolation precautions as required
• Float to units within clinical skillset as needed
• The unit includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring

Requirements

• Active Virginia State or Compact RN license
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required; previous charge experience preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• EPIC charting experience required

Weekly pay: $2,142
