PCU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting June 29, 2026.

Schedule & Compensation

• 3x12 hour night shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday required per 13-week contract
• Weekly pay: $2,142

Your Role

You'll care for adults and geriatric patients with a 1:5 patient ratio. The PCU serves as an alternative unit for gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and surgical patients, and includes one bed dedicated to chronic vent patients. You may float within your skillset as needed.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Central and peripheral line care and management
• Manage cardiac drips without titration
• Respiratory support via nasal cannula and oxygen administration
• Non-invasive airway management and isolation precautions
• Rapid response and code team participation
• Care for hospitalist medicine patients with renal and other medical diagnoses

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 1 year nursing experience
• PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown experience required
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Epic charting experience required
