RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts with self-scheduling per manager for unit balancing
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday requirement with no RTO approved over holidays
• No on-call or standby requirement
• 1-2 days of unit/department specific orientation
• Required certification: BLS
• BSN not required
• Active RN license required at submittal
• Must reside outside of 50-mile radius - driver's license required at submittal to verify
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 with nurse aide ratio of 1:10-14
• 28-bed Med/Surg unit serving cardiology, surgical oncology, urology, and complex general Med/Surg patients
• Must be able to care for a wide variety of patients
• Academic institute setting - willingness to teach (precept) and learn required
• Telemetry on unit with centralized monitoring techs; RN must be able to read basic strips
• RT equipment includes nasal cannula, less than 6L if acute, and trach collar
• IVF set rate drips administered; no drip titration required
• Charge nurse/house supervisor experience a plus
• Floating requirements based on skill level
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Charting system: EPIC
• Pass/fail open book exam during orientation requiring a minimum score of 90% to pass
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
