RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts in an acute care setting
• Self-scheduling with manager oversight for unit balancing
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday requirement with no RTO approved over holidays
• No on-call or standby requirement
• 1-2 days of unit/department specific orientation
• Pass/fail open book exam during orientation - must receive a 90% or higher to pass
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 28-bed Med/Surg unit
• Care for a wide variety of patients including cardiology, surgical oncology, urology, and complex general med/surg patients
• Ability to read basic telemetry strips required; centralized monitoring techs available
• Work with respiratory equipment including nasal cannula, less than 6L if acute, and trach collar
• Administer set rate IVF drips; titration of drips not required
• Nurse aides available on unit at a ratio of 1:10-14
• Charge nurse or house supervisor experience preferred
• Willingness to teach (precept) and learn in an academic institute setting
• Floating per skill level as required
• Navy blue scrubs required; artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Valid driver's license required at submittal
• Charting system: EPIC
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS
