Med Surg RN Job in Omaha, NE

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on a 28-bed Med/Surg unit at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 3x12-hour night shifts, earning $2,299 weekly.

Your Role

You'll provide direct patient care in an acute care setting, managing a patient ratio of 1:5–6. Your patients will include cardiology, surgical oncology, urology, and complex general med/surg cases. You'll read basic telemetry strips with centralized monitoring techs available for support. Respiratory equipment responsibilities include nasal cannula (less than 6L if acute) and trach collar. You'll administer set-rate intravenous fluid drips; titration is not required. Nurse aides are available at a 1:10–14 ratio.

Scheduling & Requirements

• Self-scheduling with manager oversight for unit balance
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday requirement; no RTO (release time off) approved over holidays
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Floating per skill level as required
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal

Orientation & Standards

You'll receive 1–2 days of unit/department-specific orientation, followed by a pass/fail open-book exam during which you must score 90% or higher. Navy blue scrubs are required; artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments. Current BLS certification is required. The facility uses EPIC for charting.

Preferred Qualifications

Charge nurse or house supervisor experience is preferred. You should be willing to teach (precept) and learn in an academic institute setting. A BSN is not required.
