Med Surg RN Job in Kearney, NE

You are a Registered Nurse with an RN degree, and CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska is seeking you for a 91-day travel assignment on the Med Surg unit. This role offers you the flexibility and structure many travel nurses value.

Role and Schedule

• Work three 12-hour shifts per week, nights (6:30 PM to 6:30 AM)
• Self-scheduling with cyclic rotation
• Every other weekend requirement
• Rotate holidays with permanent staff

Unit Details

The 22-bed Med Surg unit averages 6 patients daily. You will care for patients post-operatively and recovering from conditions such as total knee replacements, total hip replacements, ankle replacements, total shoulder replacements, and spinal procedures. Your nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6, with support from a charge nurse on every shift, nurse aids, and patient care techs available at a 1:13 ratio.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Administer pain medications, antibiotics, and blood transfusions at set rates (no drip titration required)
• Work with telemetry techs who read and interpret strips
• Access 24/7 phlebotomy services on unit
• Chart using the EPIC system
• Floating to Med Surg, rehab, or PCU taking Med Surg acuity may be required

Orientation and Requirements

You will receive one day of unit-specific orientation. A Pass/Fail open book exam with a minimum passing score of 90% is administered during orientation. Current BLS certification is required. A driver's license is required at submittal. BSN is not required for this position.

• Weekly pay: $2,280

• If placed on call and called in, you must arrive within 30 minutes
