PCU Registered Nurse Job in Baltimore, MD

MedStar Union Memorial Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 27, 2026, offering a competitive weekly pay of $1,988.

Schedule & Staffing

• 3x12 night shift schedule
• Every third weekend requirement
• Patient ratio of 1:3–4
• Float required within units of equivalent or lower acuity

Experience & Credentials

• Minimum 2 years of experience in IMC, Telemetry, or Congestive Heart Failure
• Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
• Current ACLS and BLS certification required
• Proficiency with Cerner charting system required

Clinical Skills Required

You will manage telemetry and cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response coordination, and post-MI care. Additional competencies include pre/post cardiac catheterization care, feeding tube management, hemodialysis pre/post management, renal failure care, port access, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, phlebotomy, peripheral line care, heparin protocols, CVA management, chest tube care, external CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care, isolation precautions, and wound care including wound vacs.

Unit Overview

The PCU consists of 20 beds with a daily census of 18. You will care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including Advanced Heart Failure, Pulmonary Hypertension, COPD, pneumonia, hypertensive urgency, chronic renal failure, stable angina, acute MI, and post-PCI status. Special procedures include ultrafiltration, prostacycline infusions, intravenous inotropes, continuous diuretic infusions, heparin drips, and post-cardiac catheterization care. Equipment available includes Aquadex and Aquaphoresis systems.

Support Services

Interdisciplinary support is available from IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.

Dress Code

Scrubs are not provided. Navy Blue scrubs or Navy Blue pants with a white top are required.
