ED Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department. This is a 13-week travel contract beginning August 24, 2026, with 36 guaranteed hours per week at $2,325.96 weekly.

Role Overview

You will work in a Trauma Level II, 18-bed emergency unit serving stroke, cardiac, neuro, pediatrics, geriatrics, and respiratory patients. The environment is fast-paced with a 3–4 patient-to-nurse ratio. Your responsibilities include patient assessment, lab draws, nebulizer treatments, medication administration via Pyxis dispenser, and charting in Epic. Respiratory therapy and X-ray staff are available on-site.

Schedule

You will work 3x12-hour night shifts with variable start times. The majority of shifts run 5:00 AM–5:00 PM, 9:00 AM–9:00 PM, 10:00 AM–10:00 PM, and 11:00 AM–11:00 PM, with occasional flex to 5:00 PM–5:00 AM. PM shifts may start at 11:00 AM or 2:00 PM. Every other weekend and every other holiday are required. You will also have an on-call requirement of 12 hours per 6-week period with a 30-minute response time and 2-hour callback minimum.

Facility Details

You may float to locations in Merrill, Antigo, Medford, and Stanley. Scrub color is unrestricted.

Qualifications Required

• Wisconsin RN license
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• At least 3–6 months of prior travel nursing experience
• Trauma Level II experience
• Epic charting experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and PALS (ARC or AHA) certifications
• Associate degree or certificate in nursing (Bachelor's degree preferred)
