RN - PCU Float Pool Stepdown

Job Details:

• Night shift position working 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 6-9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• Rare on-call or standby requirement for low census situations
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
• Float position covering Zone 1 within a 60-mile radius of Colorado Springs, including Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Francis InterQuest, St. Mary Corwin, and St. Thomas More
• No home base facility - schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance following either a single facility assignment for the week or a Just-In-Time (JIT) format where facility is assigned 1-2 hours before shift start
• Must be available to float into any acuity level including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 dependent on acuity
• Float pool covers multiple PCU/IMC units across specialties including General, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Obs
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, Renal, Urology post-surgical, General Surgery, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, and General Medicine
• Must be comfortable titrating and managing cardiac drips including Dopamine, Dobutamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Ativan, Insulin, and Heparin
• Must have experience with cardiac drips, insulin, and Ativan
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/IMC experience required
• Prior Neuro experience preferred
• Epic experience preferred
• Nurse aides available on unit
• RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPap present on unit
• 1-2 days of orientation with a preceptor provided
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting assignment
• Scrub color: Any color permitted
• Charting system: Epic
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
