NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care

RN - NICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 4 weekend shifts required in a 4-week schedule (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are considered weekend shifts for nights)
• Holiday rotation scheduled in coordination with permanent staff
• Self-scheduling with scheduler review to balance unit needs
• May float to sister facility (MGMC)
• Travelers will not be floated out of the NICU
• Level II NICU experience required; Level III NICU preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, must be recent within the past 6 months
• Patient ratios: NICU 2:1, Special Care Nursery 3:1
• May occasionally serve as Charge Nurse based on census
• Care for NICU patients 28 weeks and above with high-level respiratory complications including vents, CPAP, RAM, and Vapotherm nasal cannulas
• Common diagnoses include hyperbilirubinemia, meconium aspiration, respiratory distress syndrome, PPHN, IGUR, Chorioamnionitis, TTN, sepsis, PICC lines, UAC/UVC, chest tubes, passive cooling, exchange transfusions, and pneumos
• SCN patients include lower-level NICU diagnoses, CPAP, blood transfusions, and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS)
• Charting system: Cerner
• Equipment includes GE Monitors, Puritan Bennett 840, Draeger, Vision Bipap, and V60 ventilators
• NNPs available 24/7 with Neonatologist in-house during the day
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
• 2-shift orientation with a preceptor upon arrival
• Pass/fail Sim Lab assessment (foley catheter insertion) required on Day 1 of orientation
• Scrub color: Navy
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• STABLE certification preferred
