PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• 3x12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend is required
• No on-call required
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with potential for 1:5 based on patient acuity and unit needs
• Floating within scope is required based on facility needs
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/Telemetry experience required
• Teaching hospital and Level I/II trauma experience preferred
• Strong telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management experience required
• Pre- and post-cardiac catheterization experience required
• Must be comfortable caring for patients receiving drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem/Diltiazem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and insulin
• Blood product administration, peripheral IV management, phlebotomy, and starting and maintaining IVs are required
• Heparin protocol and PCA experience required
• Timely patient discharge, hourly rounding, and bedside shift report are expected for all patients
• Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
• Scrub color: Navy blue
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Prophecy Relias Basic EKG assessment required
• 4 hours of stroke continuing education annually required
• Maryland RN license required upon submittal
• No block scheduling available
• Only time off approved by unit leadership and noted in the contract will be granted
