Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Weekend requirements of 4-6 days per 6 weeks depending on coverage
• No self-scheduling; scheduled based on unit needs
• Must be open to floating to other ICUs within the hospital (skill set will be considered for assignment)
• 12-bed SICU unit (6CA) with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3 depending on acuity and emergency admissions
• Care for complex patient populations including liver/kidney transplant, vascular surgeries, ENT cancer, facial flaps, throat cancer resection, complicated airway-compromising infections, and abdominal surgeries
• Must demonstrate early recognition of changes in patient condition, clear communication and escalation with providers, and strong critical thinking skills
• Required skills include CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, ventilator management, and various drains/surgical site care
• Required to titrate drips including vasopressin, epinephrine, levophed, heparin, dobutamine, dopamine, versed, hydromorphone, fentanyl, ketamine, nimbex, esmolol, and cardene
• Required to read own telemetry strips using Phillips monitors (no monitor techs on unit)
• Intensivist on unit days and/or nights with APPs on unit 24/7; Respiratory Therapy in ICU 24/7
• Charge nurse present each shift; currently taking full assignments depending on staffing
• Patient care techs available intermittently based on census at a 1:12 ratio when present, assisting with ADLs, blood glucose checks, and transport
• 2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided
• Dress code: teal scrub bottoms with black or printed coordinating scrub top; no fleece jackets; no shellac, dip, or acrylic nails or overlays; unchipped regular nail polish allowed
• EPIC charting system required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Minimum 3+ years of experience preferred; previous travel experience and background in a high-volume hospital strongly recommended
