Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
• Contract length of 13-26 weeks accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:6 with days, nights, and weekends all at 6 to 7 patients
• Assigned to every other weekend
• Must be able to work holidays, including 2 of 3 major holidays
• Call required if put on a prescheduled call shift
• Float requirement to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding
• Charge nurse role preferred for night travelers
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• EPIC experience required
• Required certifications: BLS
• Preferred certifications: CPI
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Skills required include: BiPAP/CPAP management, heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, high flow oxygen, IV management, peripheral line care, telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and wound care
• Patients include adults and geriatrics with general Med/Surg diagnoses; daily census approximately 43
• No PCU level patients on this unit
• Documentation systems include: PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR
• Scrubs not provided; navy scrubs required
• 24-hour orientation provided
• Required to attend monthly unit team meetings scheduled on the 4th Wednesday of each month from January through October at 5:30 PM, and the 3rd Wednesday in November and December at 5:30 PM; additional night shift meetings held at 7:30 AM on the Friday following each Wednesday meeting
• Assigned to an Inclement Weather Team and may be required to report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
