RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• General Med Surg Unit serving adult and geriatric patient populations
• Patient ratio of 1:6 for days, nights, and weekends
• Required to perform vital sign checks and blood glucose checks
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Required certification: BLS
• Charting systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Every other weekend required unless specified otherwise
• Call requirements: every other weekend and holidays, relief charge as needed
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract
• All requested time off must be finalized at time of submission; no schedule requests can be made post-offer or on-site
• No requested time off permitted during orientation week (Monday through Sunday)
• If one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, no holiday time off can be requested; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, one holiday time off day may be considered
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Skills required include: blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, heparin, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, PCA, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Georgia or Compact nursing license required
