PCU Registered Nurse Job in Leonardtown, MD

MedStar Saint Marys Hospital in Leonardtown, MD is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 2, 2026, with a weekly pay of $1,989.

Shift and Schedule

• Work three 12-hour night shifts per week, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend coverage required; the unit will direct weekend scheduling based on operational needs
• No on-call required

Patient Care Details

• PCU patient ratio of 1:4; float assignments to Telemetry and Med/Surg units have ratios of 1:5 or 1:6
• 15-bed unit caring for adults only
• Float to Telemetry and/or Med/Surg units as needed
• Common diagnoses include CHF, diabetes, COPD/asthma, sepsis, pneumothorax, ESRD/dialysis, hypertension/hypotension, and ETOH withdrawal

Clinical Skills and Competencies

• BiPAP/CPAP management, central line care, chest tube management, CVA care, and feeding tube care
• Heparin protocols, high-flow nasal cannula, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV insulin protocols and cardiac drip management (non-titratable)
• PCA management, peripheral line care, hemodialysis pre/post care, and renal failure care
• Telemetry monitoring for up to 8 patients using bedside cardiac monitoring equipment

Requirements

• 2 years of recent PCU/IMC/Step-Down experience
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with minimum 80% overall score and 100% on lethal rhythms

You will have access to interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams. Special equipment available includes bedside monitoring systems, ultrasound IV technology, and lift equipment.
