Respiratory Therapist Job in Erie, PA

Join Northwest - UPMC Hamot as a Respiratory Therapist on a 90-day travel assignment. You will work a rotating schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week, earning $2,233.80 weekly.

Your Role:

• Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess condition and determine treatment requirements
• Determine appropriate methods of administering inhalants and necessary modifications compatible with physician orders
• Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient clinical objectives
• Set up and operate mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators
• Monitor and adjust equipment to ensure specified treatment parameters including volume, gas concentration, humidity, and temperature
• Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist patients with breathing exercises
• Perform pulmonary function tests for physician use in diagnosis
• Assist in transporting mechanically ventilated patients and respond to all code situations
• Maintain patient charts containing pertinent identification and therapy information

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory program
• Minimum 2 years of experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
• State license with PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73 compliance
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification may be required depending on facility assignment
