Respiratory Therapist Job in Pittsburgh, PA

ADEX Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a travel assignment at Southwest – UPMC Presbyterian/Montefiore in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a 91-day contract position starting August 23, 2026.

Position Details:

• Schedule: 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts (rotating)
• Weekly pay: $2,233.80
• Facility type: Major medical center

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies across all patient populations and service areas
• Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess conditions and determine treatment requirements
• Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient outcomes
• Set up and operate mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators
• Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist patients with breathing exercises
• Perform pulmonary function tests and consult with physicians in the event of adverse reactions
• Assist with transport of mechanically ventilated patients and respond to all code situations
• Maintain accurate patient charts with pertinent identification and therapy information

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Pennsylvania state license
• PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73 compliance
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification may be required depending on assigned units
