PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Rotating shifts of 36 or 48 hours per week
• Care for a complex cardiovascular patient population in a newly established 16-bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit
• Maintain a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Provide care for cardiovascular medicine and cardiothoracic surgery patients, including those transitioning from critical care
• Perform continuous invasive pressure monitoring including arterial line and CVP monitoring
• Manage vasopressor infusions including phenylephrine and norepinephrine
• Manage inotrope infusions including milrinone and dobutamine
• Perform transvenous and epicardial temporary pacing
• Perform chest tube management, phlebotomy, and peripheral IV insertion
• Utilize and strengthen cardiovascular assessment, telemetry, clinical judgment, and early recognition of patient deterioration skills
• Minimum 2 years of progressive level of care nursing experience or critical care nursing experience required
• Cardiology or cardiac surgery specialty experience required
• ACLS certification required
• 2 years of critical care experience highly preferred (does not need to be cardiac ICU specific)
• Charge RN experience preferred
• RN precepting experience preferred
