ED - Emergency Room

Job Details:

• Day shift position working 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Must work Labor Day Weekend
• Must work holidays in November and December; manager will consider 1 of 3 holidays if it does not conflict with unit demands
• No on-call or standby requirement; extra shifts available but not required
• No floating requirements
• Patient ratios of 1:3 for standard acuity and 1:4 for low acuity patients
• Manage a high-volume emergency department seeing approximately 170-200 patients per day
• Care for patients with common diagnoses including cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, AMS, respiratory conditions, abdominal pain, and mental health
• Work in a 56-bed emergency department with capacity expanding to 60-70 beds with hall beds
• Utilize Epic EMR and read telemetry monitor strips
• Perform or oversee nurse and ED Tech blood draws; lab assists with difficult draws
• Work in a trauma center environment with access to Fast Track, separate triage area, and dedicated psych/seclusion rooms
• Manage ER holds within 18 designated holding beds
• Collaborate with ED physicians, mid-levels, charge nurses, house supervisors, ED Techs, and CNAs
• Professional colored scrubs required
• Orientation consists of 1 day compliance information (8-10 hours) followed by 1 day department orientation (12 hours)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a larger trauma setting required
• Washington state or Compact nursing license required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS or ENPC, NIHSS
• BSN not required
• No RTO will be considered during the first full week of assignment
