Emergency Department RN Job in Carlsbad, NM

Join Carlsbad Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning August 17, 2026, offering competitive compensation and the opportunity to deliver critical care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Position Overview

You will work 12-hour mid shifts from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, three days per week. You are expected to float between departments as needed and maintain accountability for emergency room patients using the Nursing Process in accordance with New Mexico state law and hospital policy. Your patient ratio will be 4:1.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings to the care team
• Administer medications and monitor for side effects
• Document patient care with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Demonstrate critical thinking and scientific judgment in planning safe patient care
• Maintain knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives
• Delegate care priorities and provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel
• Demonstrate leadership in delivering high-quality emergency nursing care

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2+ years of emergency department nursing experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, ENPC, and TNCC
• NRP certification preferred
• Fingerprinting required for all New Mexico travelers

Important Details

The facility uses MedHost (EDIS) for electronic medical records. Any color scrubs are acceptable. Call-outs must be reported a minimum of 2 hours prior to shift start. Blocked scheduling and 48-hour guarantees are not approved. You may request one RTO per 6-week scheduling period, subject to blackout dates during one summer and one winter holiday period based on department needs.
