Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with day shift hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and night shift hours of 7:30 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday for nights, Saturday and Sunday for day shift)
• Holiday rotation to distribute holidays fairly
• First to float when low census with staff rotating standby turns
• Multi-care unit covering all three acuities on one unit (ICU, PCU, and Med/Surg) - no floating between units for acuity levels
• 10-bed unit with ratios dependent on acuity: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, MST 1:5-6, or 1:3 primary care if no nurse aide available
• Required to titrate drips including sedation, vasopressors, and insulin
• Must read cardiac monitor strips and take 12-lead EKGs; ICU patients monitored via bedside cardiac monitor
• Work with RT-supported equipment including ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP
• Remote monitor techs available for PCU and MST patients
• Charting system: Cerner
• Float responsibilities include floating to EC MST and Pediatric unit for adult MST care, and to West Campus in Prescott for ICU and PCU patients with two-hour notice before floating
• Common diagnoses include sepsis, suicide attempt, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, DKA, blood pressure or heart rate abnormalities, post-op complications, and non-titratable infusions to maintain heart rate or blood pressure
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; may consider 1 year ICU and 1 year PCU/Med-Surg experience from larger facilities with strong skills
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts prior to signing contract
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• BSN not required
• Scrub color: Any color except camouflage
• Cancellation policy: 4 shifts per contract; 3 shifts if contract is under 13 weeks
