PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract in our 44-bed Progressive Care Unit. You'll work the night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM on a 3x12 schedule with guaranteed 36 hours per week and every other weekend and holiday rotation.

In this intermediate cardiac stepdown role, you'll care for patients with a typical ratio of 1:4. Your patient population includes post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, vascular surgery, arrhythmia management, CHF, post-procedure catheterization, pacemaker and defibrillator patients, ablations, acute chest pain/MI, and medical-surgical overflow including detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, and respiratory failure cases. You may also float to other inpatient units as needed. Low census may result in 4-hour shift increments.

Qualifications:

• Current Wisconsin RN License, BLS, and ACLS (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 1 year of strong recent cardiac experience in Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/PCU/Telemetry experience
• Minimum 1 year of recent EPIC charting experience
• At least one completed prior travel assignment
• Demonstrated proficiency with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing (Bachelor's Degree preferred)
• Must pass EKG test during first week of employment

This is a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover. You'll work in a collaborative team setting on a unit focused on cardiac intermediate care. Any scrub color is acceptable.

Pay and Duration: $2,682 weekly with a start date of September 21, 2026.
