PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on a 3x12 or 4x12 schedule
• Guaranteed hours of 36 or 48 hours per week - discuss preference with manager
• Weekday shifts with every other weekend required
• Float within scope to like units, ICU, and observation area as needed
• No on-call requirement
• Block schedule requests considered - discuss during interview
• Care for a variety of medical patients including those with respiratory issues, DKA, arrhythmias, post-operative kidney transplant patients, and interventional neurological patients
• Provide care for telemetry patients with medical and surgical needs as well as the renal population
• Unit consists of 8 IMC beds and 10 observation beds staffed separately
• Patient ratios: 1:3 for IMCU and 1:4 for observation
• Perform or manage chest tubes, central lines, tracheostomies, ventilators, arterial lines, CVP, and cardiac and vasopressor drips
• Skills required: strong IMC and/or ICU experience, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and ventilator management
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; minimum 1 year of in-specialty experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• West Virginia or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for submission
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (must be AHA); NIHSS and FIT test also required
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color: Royal Blue/White or combination
• Orientation held every other Thursday; orientation is 16 hours
