PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wheeling, WV

WVU Wheeling Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for their 30-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 3, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,358.72.

Schedule & Staffing

• 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (arrive by 6:45 PM)
• Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights required; 4 weekend night shifts per 4-week schedule
• Self-scheduling available when unit needs are met; up to 4 requested days off per month
• Strict attendance policy: maximum 2 cancellations per 13-week contract (tardies and call-offs both count)

Clinical Responsibilities

• Patient ratios: goal 1:4 (typically 1:5, occasionally 1:6)
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently on Nihon Kohden monitors
• Titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasional Lasix
• Manage common diagnoses: chest pain, rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacer, pre/post catheterization (radial band management, groin checks), and Tikosyn therapy
• Float to Telemetry or Med-Surg as needed with ratios up to 1:6 (occasionally 1:7 in Med-Surg)

• Respiratory Therapy manages AirVo high flow and BiPAP equipment
• IV team in-house 24/7; PICC/Midline team available
• Hospitalist, Intensivist, and residents in-house 24/7
• 24/7 in-house Pharmacy with Pyxis dispensing
• Charting system: EPIC; EMR: Sunrise

Requirements

• Current RN license with no licensing hits; copy of driver's license required at submission
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• BSN not required
• Must reside within 50-mile radius
• Navy blue scrub tops and bottoms with navy scrub jackets (no hoodies)
