PCU Registered Nurse Job in Weirton, WV

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at WVU Weirton Medical Center, a 30-bed stepdown unit serving patients with cardiac conditions, post-pneumonia recovery, post-cath lab care, seizure management, ETOH/CIWA protocols, and pacemaker patients.

Role Details

• 12-hour rotating shifts (day: 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM; night shift equivalent)
• Every other weekend requirement with potential holiday rotation
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6 depending on acuity
• Travelers may be floated to any inpatient unit and are first to float

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titrate cardiac drips including cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and angiomax
• Read, interpret, and document telemetry strips and identify rhythms
• Perform cardiac monitoring with confidence
• Troubleshoot respiratory equipment including BiPAP, Airvo, and trachs as appropriate

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Stepdown/PCU experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Comfort with cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips

Onboarding

• 2-day general orientation
• 1 day with a preceptor
• Charting system: Cerner
• Required scrub color: Navy Blue
