Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• 3x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend rotation with holidays as needed
• Float required between all health system facilities
• Patient ratio of 6:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers welcome
• Med Surg Telemetry and Telemetry experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: BLS; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam (2 attempts allowed; study materials not provided)
• Care for acutely ill medical-surgical and orthopedic patients including adults and geriatrics
• Patient diagnoses include acute/chronic respiratory illness, post-op general surgery, post-op GYN surgery, post-op total knee and hip replacements, orthopedics, acute and chronic pain, active GI bleeding, CHF/pulmonary edema, diabetes, renal failure, drug overdose, CIWA score below 7, suicidal patients, arrhythmia, radioactive therapy, uncontrolled or new onset seizures, and stable respiratory illness patients
• Administer IV medication drips including Heparin and TNA
• Required skills include accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, chest tubes, CVA management, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, PICC line management, telemetry monitoring, peripheral line care, starting and maintaining IVs, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
• 41-bed unit with a daily census of 34
