Surgical Technologist OR Job in Pittsburgh, PA

You will work as a Certified Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room at Southwest - UPMC Presbyterian/Montefiore. This is a 90-day travel assignment beginning October 12, 2026, with a schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week (approximately 36 hours weekly). Your weekly pay is $1,997.28.

Your responsibilities include:

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions prior to operations
• Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment and verify all equipment is functioning properly
• Prepare patients for surgery including washing, shaving, and ensuring aseptic incision sites
• Assist the surgical team with sterile gowns and gloves
• Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures
• Hold retractors or instruments, cut sutures, and sponge or suction operative sites under surgeon supervision
• Count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments throughout procedures
• Assist in preparation, care, and disposal of specimens taken for laboratory analysis
• Ensure all medications are properly labeled and distributed according to established policies and procedures
• Assist with patient transfer to the recovery room
• Clean and restock the operating room post-surgery
• Maintain a clean and safe environment through adherence to safety protocols and aseptic technique

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of surgical technology experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC) credential
• PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73 clearances
• Compliance with PA legislature House Bill 81 education and certification requirements for surgical technologists
