Med Surg RN Job in Wilmington, NC

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center Rapid Response is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Medical Surgical Neuro unit. You'll work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM on a 3x12 schedule, with the option to work 36 or 48 hours per week. Contracts range from 13 to 26 weeks, beginning November 2, 2026.

Your Role:

• Manage a patient ratio of 1:6
• Provide care on a dedicated Neuro unit requiring neuro-specific clinical expertise
• Float within and near the facility as needed
• Work every other weekend (every other weekend required)
• Work 2 of 3 major holidays
• May be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team with expectation to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
• Take no more than 7 days of RTO; no RTO during your first week

Required Qualifications:

• Current NC or Compact nursing license
• 2 years of nursing experience (first-time travelers accepted)
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Neuro experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

• NIHSS certification
• Previous charge experience

Key Skills: CVA management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions and PPE, telemetry, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, peripheral line care and management, starting and maintaining IVs.

Unit Details: You'll work with Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR systems. Navy blue scrubs required. You'll receive 24-hour orientation to support your transition.

Compensation: $2,027 weekly. This is a 91-day contract opportunity.
