PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts running from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, must be on unit and ready to go by 6:45 AM/PM
• Weekend shifts include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; night shift requires 4 weekend night shifts per 4-week schedule
• Self-scheduling is allowed as long as unit needs are met, with up to 4 requested days off per month
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Charting system: EPIC; EMR: Sunrise
• BSN not required
• Patient ratios goal is 1:4, though typically runs 1:5 and occasionally 1:6
• Unit is a 30-bed Intermediate Care Unit (14 private and 16 semi-private rooms)
• RNs must be able to read and interpret their own telemetry strips independently (Nihon Kohden monitors, with Tele Techs available)
• Must be able to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix
• Respiratory equipment managed by Respiratory Therapy (AirVo high flow, Respironics BiPAP)
• IV team handles all IV starts and is in-house 24/7; PICC/Midline team also available
• Hospitalist, Intensivist, and residents are all in-house 24/7
• Pharmacy in-house 24/7 with Pyxis medication dispensing
• Common diagnoses include chest pain, rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post pacer, pre/post caths (manage radial bands and removal, no sheath pulls), groin checks, and Tikosyn therapy management
• All staff required to float as needed into Telemetry or MedSurg with ratios up to 1:6, occasionally 1:7 in MedSurg
• Scrub color: Navy blue top and bottom with navy scrub jackets; no hoodies
• Strict attendance policy: 2 cancellations allowed per 13-week contract; tardies and call-offs both count toward the 2-occurrence limit, after which termination may result
• Driver's license copy required at time of submission; 50-mile radius rule applies
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
