PCU RN Job in Portsmouth, NH

Join Portsmouth Regional Hospital NH as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 13-week travel assignment offering 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) at $2,218 weekly pay, starting September 21, 2026.

Role Overview

You will provide direct patient care in a 15-bed cardiovascular and vascular surgery specialty unit. This PCU focuses on pre- and post-operative cardiovascular patients requiring close monitoring and skilled interventions. Your patient ratio will be 4:1, with 1–2 LNA support staff available each shift.

Key Responsibilities

• Titrate vasoactive medications including Levophed, Phenylephrine, Dopamine, and Dobutamine
• Manage arterial lines, Flo-Tracs, and temporary pacing equipment
• Perform or assist with chest tube management and removal
• Monitor patients via central station and provide bedside shift reports at each change of shift
• Participate in pre-operative preparation for cardiovascular surgery patients
• Utilize MyCare boards for shift updates and communication

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong telemetry skills
• Experience titrating vasoactive medications
• Chest tube experience required
• Arterial lines, Flo-Tracs, and temporary pacing experience preferred
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required

Unit Details

The unit uses GE Monitors, Hamilton BiPAP and HiFlo equipment, Baxter IV Pumps, and Hemospheres. Documentation is completed in Meditech Expanse. Mobility team support is available to assist with patient care. You will work 12 shifts per month with 4 weekend shifts included. Floating occurs on a rotation basis, with travelers floating first.
