PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• Float pool position requiring flexibility to float to all MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units within the hospital
• Patient population includes adults to geriatrics
• Patient ratios: 1:4-5 PCU; 1:5-6 MS, MS Tele
• Every other weekend required (average 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract - all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• Holiday coverage required - if one or two major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work them; if three major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work two
• No on-call requirements
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Required charting systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include: cardiac telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, peripheral and central line care, PICC line management, phlebotomy, wound care/wound vac, tracheostomy care, telemetry monitoring, PCA, feeding tube care, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Hospital consists of 5 MS/MS Tele departments, 1 cardiac telemetry department, 1 neuro intermediate unit, and 2 PCU units
