PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with weekend and holiday availability as scheduled
• Weekend positions required for agency RN placements
• Expected to work approximately half of all recognized holidays
• No call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 3:1 for step-down patients and 6:1 for floor patients
• Clinical Associates (nurse aides) available with a goal of 3 CAs at all times, maintaining a 1:10 ratio
• Flex unit serving both floor and step-down patients based on patient and hospital needs
• Diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses
• Must be able to manage 6 patients (med-surg) or 3 patients (step-down)
• EPIC EMR experience required
• RNs will have orders written to titrate drips including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN
• Will work with CPAP and BiPAP on floor and step-down; HiFlow and vents in step-down (patients requiring vent setting adjustments are transferred to ICU)
• Telemetry monitoring supported by a remote surveillance center and central monitoring on unit; RNs are not expected to read their own strips; Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment used
• Charge RNs and House Supervisors available 24/7
• First to float or be pulled to other floor or step-down units
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of royal blue and white
• Charting system: EPIC
• BSN not required
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• Acute care setting
