Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work three 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Weekend requirement every other week
• No on-call responsibilities
• May float to other units within scope of practice, including Hawthorne or Herrick Campus depending on need and census
• Shuttle provided if floating to another campus is requested, with approximately 1.5 hours notice prior to shift start
• Manage overall nursing care from admission to discharge ensuring competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning factors
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and other health team members
• Administer treatments and medications and perform nursing skills in a timely manner
• Serve as liaison between nursing and medical staff to facilitate a collaborative approach to patient care
• Delegate tasks appropriately to team members and supervise and evaluate delegated care
• Serve as patient advocate to ensure physical, psychological, psychosocial, and spiritual needs are met
• Conduct multidisciplinary rounds and care conferences
• Provide education and discharge planning to patients, families, and significant others
• Act as a role model and clinical resource to students and staff
• Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement processes
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Travel experience required
• Patient ratio experience of 5 patients required
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Required certification: BLS (AHA or ARC)
• Valid California RN state license required
• 2 references obtained within the last year required
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, heparin management, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, isolation precautions/PPE, med/surg, orthopedic trauma, PCA management, PICC line management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and neurovascular assessments among others
