PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts with weekends and holidays as scheduled
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday requirement applies
• No on-call or standby requirement; overtime is available
• Stepdown ratio of 1 RN to 3 patients; Floor ratio of 1 RN to 6 patients
• Care for complex cardiac and vascular surgery post-op patients including CABG, valve replacements, LVAD, heart transplants, and TAVRs
• Manage cardiology patients including STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, and cardiac cath procedures
• Care for vascular surgery patients including AAA repair, CEA, femoral bypass, angiograms, and amputations
• Required to titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, and Dobutamine
• Work with RT equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, and Hi-Flow
• Cardiac monitoring supported by CMTs housed on unit who interpret all strips
• Nurse aide support available with 1 Clinical Associate per 8-10 patients
• Unit Charge Nurse and House Supervisors available 24/7
• Floating may be required to sister units within the Heart and Vascular Institute
• 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Charting system: EPIC
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Dress code: Solid royal blue and white scrubs
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Cardiac and vascular experience required
