CVICU RN Job in New Bern, NC

CarolinaEast Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) in New Bern, North Carolina. You will work 3x12 night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM with an every-other-weekend requirement.

Role Overview

You will provide direct care to post-operative cardiovascular patients, including adults and geriatrics, with a patient ratio of 1–2 patients per nurse. You will receive patients directly from the OR who are sedated, intubated, on swan catheters, and receiving multiple drips. Your responsibilities include managing complex cardiac equipment and monitoring patients through their immediate post-operative recovery.

Required Experience and Credentials

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with open heart surgery background
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Previous charge experience preferred
• EPIC experience preferred

Clinical Skills

You must be proficient in arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, care of ventilated patients, CVVHD/CRRT, ECMO, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) management, pulmonary artery and Swan-Ganz monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and ventilator management.

Patient Population and Diagnoses

You will care for patients with diagnoses including post-CABG, post-valve surgery, TAVR, femoral-popliteal procedures, carotid surgery, and lung surgery. Special equipment you will manage includes swan catheters, temporary pacers, pericardial and pleural chest tubes, Impella, IABP, CRRT, Prismaflex, ventilators, and ventricular assist devices.

Float Requirements

You may float to the ED, ICU, and CVIMC as needed to support unit operations.

Assignment Details

This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 16, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,304.
