RN - Cardiac Tele

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Patient ratio: 1:4-5 with 36 rooms and an average daily census of 35
• Work every other weekend unless otherwise specified; 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• RTO blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th–12th); no RTO can be requested during orientation week
• Holiday coverage required: if 1–2 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work all of them; if 3 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work 2
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed, including to other Cardiac Telemetry units
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (NIHSS preferred)
• Required charting system: Epic; also uses Pyxis and SBAR
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Perform own vital sign checks and blood glucose checks
• Care for patients with diagnoses including CHF, MI/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath), Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), Hypo-/Hypertension, Pleural effusion, Sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues, and Peripheral vascular disease
• Must be able to manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration including milrinone, dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Lidocaine, Bumex, and Heparin
• Special procedures include Peritoneal Dialysis
• Special equipment used: Telemetry, EKG, Doppler
• Key skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry monitoring, central line care, chest tube management, heparin protocols, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, pacemaker management, PICC line management, phlebotomy, post cardiac angiogram care, pre/post cardiac cath and surgery care, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Lift Teams, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy
• GA or Compact nursing license required
