PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 13-week travel contract beginning November 2, 2026.

Position Details

• Work three 12-hour night shifts per week from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week at $2,640 weekly pay
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• Float to inpatient units as needed, typically higher acuity areas
• Up to 36 hours of low census unbillable time available in hour increments
• Unit may request 4 or 8-hour shifts during low census periods

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage a 4:1 patient ratio with primary patient accountability
• Administer insulin drips and monitor telemetry continuously
• Care for patients with stable and weaning ventilators, trachs, sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy, chest tubes, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, and stroke
• Work in a 36-bed Med-Surg Intermediate Care unit with heavy telemetry monitoring

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 2+ years nursing experience
• Stepdown, Intermediate, or PCU experience required
• Ventilator and trach experience required
• At least one prior travel assignment
• Associate Degree or Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• ICU experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• EKG exam required during compliance

You will work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple complex patients and adapting to unit needs. Any scrub color is permitted.
